How to enter the contest

Simply submit your original Rice Krispies* recipe (an original creation or a twist to the classic recipe) and tell us in 200 words or less what your family is doing to give back to your community. See contest rules and regulations.

There are lots of ways families are giving back to their communities — from hosting bake sales for charity to volunteering. Here's a favourite entry:

My husband comes from a really big family and every summer they hold a family reunion. Each year it’s hosted by someone different. A few years ago when it was our turn we decided to try something new – spending the day volunteering our time together. We signed the whole family up to participate in a community project building a home for a family in need. It was great to get involved, spend time together laughing and joking around, and helping another family as a family. It was such a great experience that we’ve decided to make it a new tradition.

Sandy's Sweet and Sour Surprise Squares
1/4 cup margarine
40 marshmallows
6 cup Rice Krispies cereal
1 cup Sour Gummy Candies
1/2 cup Regular Gummy Candies

Melt the margarine and marshmallows together in the microwave. Add in the cereal, sour gummies and mix. Press into a greased pan and decorate with the regular gummy candies.
